Teenage Midfielder Otasowie Makes Full Premier League Debut For Wolves Vs Burnley
Published: December 21, 2020Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has handed a full Premier League debut to Nigeria-eligible central midfielder Owen Otasowie for his side's meeting with Burnley this evening.
The 2001-born player is certain to start against the Clarets barring an injury in the pre-match warmup.
Otasowie has been rewarded for his fine performance off the bench in Wolves' last Premier League match with Chelsea at the Molineux Stadium, where he played the entirety of the second half after replacing the injured Leander Dendoncker.
The 19-year-old was credited with an assist in his maiden appearance in the English top-flight, nodding the ball down to Daniel Podence in the left-hand side of the box before the Portuguese curled it past the Chelsea goalkeeper.
Prior to the fixture with Chelsea, Otasowie's only appearance for Wolves' first team was against Besiktas in the Europa League in December 2019.
Born in New York City, like Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, he is eligible to represent the national teams of United States and England apart from Nigeria.
