Chelsea Reject Bid From Russian Club Rostov For Super Eagles Hopeful
Published: December 21, 2020Chelsea have rejected an offer worth three million pounds (approximately N1.87 billion in Nigerian currency) for Super Eagles hopeful Ike Ugbo, according to reports.
The Sun says FC Rostov made a bid for the promising striker but the Blues didn't want to have anything to do with the offer from the Russian Premier League side.
Clubs at home and abroad have started taking notice of the former England U17 international following his brilliant performances this season at Belgian top-flight club Cercle Brugge.
With ten goals from fifteen appearances in the division, only four players, including Racing Genk's Paul Onuachu, have scored more than Ugbo in 2020-2021.
Ugbo has been farmed out on loan to Barnsley, Milton Keynes Dons, Scunthorpe, Roda and Cercle Brugge to get a taste of first team football.
Before his latest loan move, the 22-year-old inked a contract extension at Stamford Bridge until June 2022.
There was an option to buy in the loan deal taking him to Cercle Brugge in August 2020.
Ugbo has started the process of filing a one-time change of association to enable him represent the Super Eagles next year.
