The Reason Chelsea-Owned Striker Ugbo Rejected Lucrative Four-Year Deal With Rostov
Published: January 11, 2021Russian Premier League side Rostov have failed in their attempt to sign Chelsea-owned striker Ike Ugbo.
A bid in the region of three million pounds for the former England U17 international was rejected by the Blues and on top of that the Super Eagles hopeful did not want to join the club, citing footballing reasons.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Rostov offered Ugbo a four-year contract that would have seen him pocket at least five million euros net (N2.85 billion in Nigerian currency) over the duration of the contract.
Apart from Marseille, Club Brugge and Genk, two La Liga clubs have made enquiries over his availability in the summer.
Meanwhile, Ugbo has submitted the necessary paperwork to the Nigeria Football Federation, indicating his intention to play for the Super Eagles.
A one-time switch that would change his eligibility from England to Nigeria is expected to go through as he already has a Nigerian passport.
The 22-year-old has ten goals in seventeen appearances for Cercle Brugge in the Belgian First Division A so far this season.
