Pundit Rules Out Glasgow Celtic Swapping Edouard For Leicester City Striker Iheanacho
Published: January 18, 2021LeicestershireLive reporter Jordan Blackwell has ruled out a swap deal involving Glasgow Celtic star Odsonne Edouard and Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the January transfer window.
Leicester City have been linked with a move for the former PSG attacker, a player current Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers signed while he was coaching Celtic.
Blackwell confirmed that Leicester City are truly interested in Edouard but it is highly unlikely that Celtic would agree to a deal this month that would see Iheanacho move in the opposite direction.
With Jamie Vardy the undisputed first choice striker at the King Power Stadium, the Nigeria international has struggled for game time, making only two starts in the Premier League this season.
When asked if there was a possibility of a swap loan deal involving Iheanacho and Edouard, Blackwell replied : "I can't see Celtic letting Edouard leave this January, never mind City making a move for him.
"I also couldn't see Celtic wanting to take a swap deal that they will feel weakens them.
"I think when City have a bit of money to spend, which won't be until the summer, that they will move for a new forward."
Iheanacho moved to Leicester City from Manchester City in the summer of 2017 and is under contract with the Foxes for another one and a half seasons.
