Super Eagles Duo Help Leicester City Beat Brentford To Make Emirates FA Cup Last 16
Published: January 24, 2021Leicester City are through to the last 16 of the Emirates FA Cup after coming from behind to beat Championship high-flyers Brentford on Sunday evening.
This is the second consecutive season that the Foxes have knocked out the Bees from the competition and the result set up a meeting with fellow Premier League side Brighton & Hove in the fifth round.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi entered the game as a substitute in the 70th minute and he was joined on the pitch by Kelechi Iheanacho, a surprise omission from the starting XI, six minutes later.
Brentford didn't disgrace themselves today and gave Leicester City a bit of a scare when their Danish defender Mads Bech Sørensen opened the scoring from a set-piece corner kick routine in the sixth minute.
Cengiz Under equalised a minute into the second half, James Maddison got on the scoresheet again and Youri Tielemans, sandwiched in between those two goals, netted from the spot to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute.
Ndidi, Iheanacho and their Leicester City teammates will now turn their attention to the Premier League, hosting Alex Iwobi's Everton at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, January 27.
