Ex-Flying Eagles Star Close To Agreeing Terms With Scottish Champions-In-Waiting Rangers
Published: January 28, 2021Former Nigeria U20 international Nnamdi Ofoborh is close to agreeing a pre-contract with Scottish Premiership champions-in-waiting Glasgow Rangers, according to Bournemouth manager Jason Tindall.
The central midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract with Bournemouth and can sign a preliminary contract with a foreign club but the Cherries would be entitled to compensation as he is an U24 player.
The Light Blues announced the signing of Ofoborh's teammate, Jack Simpson on Thursday and the Nigerian is expected to follow suit.
The 21-year-old went the distance in Bournemouth's two matches in the Carabao Cup against Premier League opponents Crystal Palace and Manchester City last September, before playing a minute each against Coventry City, Reading and Barnsley in the Championship.
When asked if Ofoborh was likely to join Rangers, manager Tindall was quoted as saying by Bournemouth Echo : "I think so. The conversations I’ve had with Nnamdi, I think they are down the line on that one.
"I know it’s a club I think he would want to go and play for. It’s not as far down the line as what Jack is, but I think he is close to agreeing things to also go to Rangers.
"Credit to the football club and everyone that’s worked with Nnamdi, from where he was when he joined us to where he currently is now and to where he might end up, I think is great credit to everyone at this football club that’s helped him to achieve that."
