West Ham Team News FA Cup : Odubeko Named In Traveling Squad To Face Former Club Man Utd
Published: February 09, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria-eligible striker Ademipo Odubeko could be involved in some capacity when West Ham tackle Manchester United in an eagerly anticipated Emirates FA Cup fifth round clash on Tuesday.
It is confirmed that the Republic of Ireland youth international traveled with the Hammers first teamers to Manchester ahead of tonight's fixture.
Still only 18, Odubeko has been part of West Ham's first team bubble in the last one month or so, making the gameday squads for matches against Burnley, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Manager David Moyes handed the highly-rated teenager his professional debut in a 1-0 win vs Stockport County in the third round of the FA Cup last month, bringing him on in the 91st minute as a replacement for Michail Antonio.
If West Ham's final training session before their trip to Manchester is anything to go by, Odubeko has been earmarked for a bench role against the Red Devils.
Odubeko joined West Ham in October 2019 after turning down a scholarship at Manchester United, where he netted 35 goals in his final season with the club.
One of the heroes of West Ham's triumph over Doncaster Rovers in the fourth round, Dapo Afolayan is not in contention to feature as he has been loaned out to Bolton Wanderers for the rest of the season and the same applies to center back Ajibola Alese who joined Cambridge United on loan this month.
