Published: February 15, 2021With a statement on their official website, English Premier League club Arsenal have announced that Nigeria-eligible central defender Zach Awe has signed a new deal.
Born January 9, 2004, Awe has inked his first professional contract with the Gunners having joined the club at the age of eight.
A tall and physical center back, Awe has been invited to train with Arsenal's first team this season, a testament to how highly rated he is at the north London club.
The 6ft 4in tall defender, who was born in Greenwich, attended Thomas Tallis School in Blackheath, London.
He made his competitive debut for Arsenal U18s against Southampton while still a schoolboy and made his maiden appearance in the Premier League 2 in a 6-0 hammering of Blackburn Rovers in November 2020.
Awe could be in line for a debut in Europe as he has been added to Arsenal's Europa League squad (List B) for the knockout rounds of the competition.
