Orlando City turn down $10 million bid from big six Premier League team for Dike
Published: March 12, 2021Major League Soccer club Orlando City have reportedly turned down a bid for American-Nigerian youngster Daryl Dike according to matching press reports in the United States and England.
According to the BBC, there has already been an approach from one of the big six Premier League teams due to the impact he has made in the Championship for Barnsley.
The 20-year-old has scored three goals in his last five appearances for Barnsley, including the game-winning goal against Birmingham City last weekend.
The big six are the top six teams in England namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Orlando City want to keep Dike on their roster for the 2021 season but their hands would be tied if an interested club are willing to pay his release clause of $20m.
Barnsley have an option to buy Dike permanently in the summer while Orlando City inserted a conditional right of
recall into the loan deal.
Born in Edmond, Oklahoma, he is open to representing Nigeria at international level though he made his debut for the United States in a 7-0 rout of Trinidad and Tobago in February 2021.
