Shoretire unlikely to make full Premier League debut for Manchester United against West Ham
Published: March 13, 2021Everything is pointing to the fact that promising winger Shola Shoretire is unlikely to make his full Premier League debut for Manchester United when they tackle West Ham United at Old Trafford tomorrow evening.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sweating over the fitness of strikers Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial prior to the meeting against David Moyes' side, while attack-minded duo Anthony Martial and Juan Mata have been ruled out having failed to recover from injuries.
Shoretire started Manchester United's goalless draw against Brighton & Hove on Friday but was replaced after 63 minutes - an indication that he was being saved for the visit of the Hammers.
However, the 17-year-old is unlikely to make two starts in 48 hours given the physicality of the Premier League.
The Anglo-Nigerian starlet has impressed for United's U23s this term, with a goal involvement of 10 (6 goals, 4 assists) from sixteen appearances, leading to his temporary promotion to the first team.
He could have added to that tally against the Seagulls but saw his free-kick hit the woodwork in the first half.
