Chelsea's top-scoring loanee Ugbo comments on his future ahead of summer transfer window
Published: April 12, 2021Super Eagles hopeful Ike Ugbo has commented on his future ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
With 15 goals in 31 appearances in the Belgian First Division A, Ugbo is Chelsea's top-scoring loanee in 2020-2021.
Cercle Brugge negotiated a purchase clause set at five million euros when they signed the former England youth international last August but the striker is aware that there's interest from other European clubs following his brilliant performances this season.
Ugbo remained Cercle Brugge's first choice striker even after the departure of former Chelsea youth team coach Paul Clement.
"I owe a lot to Paul Clement, but after he left here, I have not had any further contact with him," says Ugbo to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
"That's how it goes in football, isn't it? It is also unclear to me where my own future lies, that still needs to be discussed with my agent.
"Of course my goals must have aroused interest somewhere. Fifteen is not bad, but it could and could have been more."
Ugbo's contract with parent club Chelsea expires at the end of the 2021-2022 season.
