'He has become an excellent no 9' - Ex-Napoli striker Schwoch on Monza-linked striker Simy
Published: June 27, 2021
Former Napoli striker Stefan Schwoch is delighted with the progress of Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo since his arrival in Italy.
The lanky striker has been linked with a possible move to Italian Serie B side Monza in the summer transfer window and would reunite with his former coach at Crotone, Giovanni Stroppa if the deal were to happen.
Schwoch believes that Simy has been performing at a high level due to the coaching he received from Stroppa.
The 2020-2021 campaign was Simy's highest scoring season in a European top-flight league, having tallied 20 goals in 38 matches - 31 of which he started.
In quotes relayed by Tuttomercatoweb making reference to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Schwoch said : "If Stroppa has Simy, Monza will be in Serie A. He has done very well and has improved since he was in Italy.
"Many of these improvements are also due to the work of Stroppa, who knows him well.
"When he arrived he was also very awkward. in the technical bases, over time he has become an excellent number 9 ".
Simy will enter the final twelve months of his contract at Crotone in July and is valued at eight million euros by Transfermarkt.
A member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup, he wore the colours of Portuguese teams Portimonense and Gil Vicente before joining Crotone in 2016.
