Real Madrid boss Ancelotti takes Nigerian midfielder to Glasgow for friendly against Rangers
Published: July 25, 2021It is all but confirmed that Spanish-born Nigerian midfielder Marvin Akinlabi will be given minutes in Sunday evening's glamour friendly between Real Madrid and Glasgow Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced a 19-man squad for the friendly against the Scottish champions, with Akinlabi part of the group.
The Spanish-Nigerian is one of seven midfielders named in the squad list, along with Odegaard, Isco, Blanco, Arribas, Morante and Dotor.
This evening's friendly is a good opportunity for Akinlabi to prove himself in Ancelotti's first game following his return to Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old has been promoted to first team training by the Italian manager due to the absence of a number of players involved in this summer's European Championship, Copa America and Olympic Games.
Akinlabi already had a taste of first team football for Real Madrid, totaling four appearances in La Liga and was
on the bench when they were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool in the
Champions League back in April.
