Photo confirmation : Super Falcons attacker joins French club AS Saint-Etienne
Published: August 14, 2021With a statement on their official website, newly-promoted Feminine Division 1 club AS Saint-étienne have announced the signing of Nigeria international attacker Esther Okoronkwo.
The length and financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed by the club and player.
Okoronkwo is joining AS Saint-étienne from American club Lamar Lady Cardinals, and lists Northeast Texas Eagles and Foster Falcons among her former employers.
She made her international debut for the Super Falcons in a 1-0 loss to Jamaica in June 2021.
In her first words as a player of AS Saint-étienne, Okoronkwo stated : " I am very happy to join ASSE. It is a first experience in Europe, I am very excited to start this season in D1 Arkema.
"My goal is necessarily to score as many goals as possible, but collectively , I am first and foremost keen to get along well with my teammates in the field."
Okoronkwo has been handed the number 3 jersey and could make her competitive debut for Jérôme Bonnet's team when they face Bordeaux on the opening day of the season on August 28, 2021.
