Rangers coach explains his decision to bring in Aribo in second half of win vs Dundee United
Glasgow Rangers have maximum points from all their six Premiership games under the tenure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst following a 1-0 success against Dundee United at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday evening.

The champions had to dig deep for the win, needing a penalty converted by right-back James Tavernier in the 71st minute to earn all three points.

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst showed the strength in depth of his squad by leaving Joe Aribo and Scott Wright on the substitutes bench until the second half.

Prior to the visit of Dundee United, the Nigeria national teamer was walking a disciplinary tightrope as he was one booking away from an automatic suspension having already accumulated five yellow cards, so the Dutch coach opted to give him a rest.

With the scoreboard reading 0-0, super-subs Wright and Aribo came in in the second half and changed the game for Rangers.

Explaining his decision to bring in the two players, Van Bronckhorst told Rangers TV post-match : "Yes of course because Joe is a very important player and I had to get him in because we had to score.

"In the end he was positive again today and also Wright did really well, so really pleased with the guys we can put in the game."

Calvin Bassey went the distance against Dundee United, helping the Light Blues keep their fifth consecutive clean sheet in the division.
