Former Nigeria U23 invitee missing as Glasgow Celtic lift League Cup
Glasgow Celtic picked up their first silverware of the 2021-2022 campaign after beating Hibernian 2-1 in the final of the League Cup on Sunday, December 19.

For the first time in the competition, manager of the Hoops Ange Postecoglou did not select Osaze Urhoghide in his matchday squad.

The former Nigeria U23 invitee was a non-playing substitute in previous rounds against Heart of Midlothian FC, Raith Rovers and St Johnstone.

Goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi, who has made Celtic's matchday squad for Europa League matches this season, was also not involved in the showpiece at Hampden Park.

Paul Hanlon headed home a corner to give Hibernian the lead five minutes into the second half but within a minute and whilst the Hibs fans were still celebrating, Celtic equalised through their Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi.

Eighteen minutes from time, Kyogo scored what proved to be the winning goal, lifting the ball over the Hibs goalkeeper after a quickly taken free-kick.

Urhoghide has made only one appearance for the League Cup winners since joining from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer transfer window and it came against Real Betis in the Europa League ten days ago.
