Two Liverpool legends react to Ndidi penalty incident in Leicester's win vs the Reds
Published: December 29, 2021Liverpool legends Emile Heskey and Steven McManaman have had their say on the penalty incident involving Leicester City center-back Wilfred Ndidi and Reds winger Mohamed Salah during the first half of Tuesday night's Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.
Referee Michael Oliver awarded a penalty to Liverpool after the Nigeria national teamer tripped Salah on the edge of the six-yard box in the fifteenth minute.
Schmeichel kept out Salah's effort and the rebound was headed onto the bar by the Egypt international before Leicester City managed to clear the danger.
In the view of Heskey and McManaman, Michael Oliver awarding a spot kick to Liverpool was the right decision.
Speaking onĀ Premier League Productions at halftime, McManaman said : "You've got Boubakary Soumare behind, you've got Amartey in front of Mohamed Salah, you don't go diving and then making it easy for him like that.
"It was a penalty, I don't think anybody could argue with that."
Heskey backed McManaman saying : "You can't argue with that one. You've got to stand your ground and make him make a move and he didn't do that, he just stuck his leg out".
