West Ham United interested in Super Eagles hopeful ahead of summer transfer window
West Ham United are reportedly interested in Super Eagles hopeful Calvin Bassey ahead of the summer transfer window.

Football Insider says the Hammers have set their sights on the versatile Rangers defender after a previous six-figure bid was rejected.

Manager David Moyes is in the market for a left-footed defender and the 2021 Super Eagles invitee is on the club's shortlist.

Predominantly a left-back, Bassey provided cover for recuperating central defender Leon Balogun in several matches this season but returned to his preferred fullback position in Rangers' most recent game against Hearts.

The Anglo-Italian-Nigerian rising star had previously been linked with a move to West Ham when he was still at Leicester City in 2020 but Rangers eventually won the race for his signature.

This season, Bassey has been involved in 28 all-competition appearances for the Light Blues, 25 of which he started.

The 22-year-old was a non-playing substitute in back-to-back 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic in October 2021.
