Osimhen picks Tottenham Hotspur center-back as his toughest opponent in football
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has identified Cristian Romero as his toughest opponent in football and admitted that the pacy Tottenham Hotspur central defender gave him a hard time when they faced off.

The Nigeria international saw firsthand the qualities of Romero on three occasions during the 2020-2021 season, first coming up against him in a Serie A clash between Napoli and Atalanta in October 2020, followed by another duel in the top-flight and a Coppa Italia clash.

In the three outings against the Argentina star, Osimhen managed to score one goal and it was in his first meeting with Romero, when he chested a long ball upfield from former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, then turned and drilled low into the bottom corner.

Romero, who was named the best defender in the Serie A for the 2020-2021 campaign, joined Tottenham Hotspur last August.

Osimhen also sang the praises of Lazio star Ciro Immobile, labeling the 2020 European champion with Italy his favourite Italian striker.

"Both Gattuso and Spalletti have helped me, I can and I just have to thank them," Osimhen told La Repubblica via Sky Sport Italia.

"My favorite Italian striker is Immobile, he always comes out between the defenses and makes everything seem easy: a real pirate.

"The most difficult defender? Romero, now at Tottenham, when he marked me he was faster than I. And Koulibaly who never lets me score in training."

Osimhen was back on the scoresheet in his first start this calendar year as Napoli defeated Venezia 2-0 this past weekend.
