Snapped : New Man Utd boss Ten Hag includes Nigeria-eligible midfielder in pre-season squad
Published: June 27, 2022New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has included Shola Shoretire in the Red Devils pre-season squad for the time being.
Through their official website, the Red Devils have published pictures of the players reporting back for pre-season training at their Carrington base, with England U19 international midfielder of Nigerian descent Shoretire part of the group.
This is the second consecutive pre-season that the Anglo-Nigerian has been invited to train with the first team, having worked out with the senior players last summer and featured in friendlies against Brentford, Queens Park Rangers and Derby County.
As was the case last pre-season, Shoretire has been promoted to first team training by ten Hag as a result of several senior players yet to report for pre-season training due to international commitments with their respective nations over the summer.
He will be hoping to catch the eye of the Dutch football tactician given that a decision on his future is expected to made before the close of the summer transfer window, whether he is loaned out to continue his development, brought into the first team fold or remain with the development squad.
United have lined up friendlies against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano this pre-season.
