Salzburg's Austrian-Nigerian LB potentially scouted by Man Utd, 7 other EPL clubs at U19 Euro
Published: June 29, 2022Red Bull Salzburg's Austria youth international of Nigerian descent Justin Omoregie was one of the players potentially scouted by eight English Premier League clubs at the ongoing European U19 Championship taking place in Slovakia.
Austria failed to qualify for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup after they were beaten 1-0 by hosts Slovakia on Tuesday, with Omorgie starting the game before he was forced off injured midway through the first half.
The Athletic UK reported on Wednesday morning that scouts from throughout Europe descended on Slovakia for the U19 Euro and there were eight from the Premier League.
Manchester United sent their talent spotters to identify the next big talents in European football.
Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, Leeds United, Leicester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United had at least one scout in attendance.
Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Wolfsburg, Sassuolo and Hamburg also had representatives at the U19 Euro.
Omoregie was involved in all the matches played by Austria in the group stage, against England, Israel and Serbia.
In March, the 18-year-old signed a new contract with the Austrian champions until 2027 and was officially promoted to Red Bull Salzburg's first team for the forthcoming season.
Omoregie is an extremely versatile player who can play as a left-back, central defender, central midfielder and holding midfielder.
