Significant update emerges on future of two Super Eagles stars and Nigeria U23 intl at Watford
Published: July 05, 2022There is uncertainty about the future of Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong at demoted Premier League club Watford ahead of the forthcoming season.
According to The Athletic UK (subscription required), the Hornets are open to parting company with the central defender if the right offer comes in.
Three months ago, Troost-Ekong was linked with a move to Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy but nothing came out of it, with Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta informing allnigeriasoccer.com that no approach was made for the Nigerian.
Signed from partner club Udinese in September 2020, the Tottenham Hotspur academy product has three years left on his contract with Watford.
Per the report, Watford are aiming to trim their wage bill by approximately thirty percent and another Nigeria national teamer linked with a departure from Vicarage Road is Emmanuel Dennis but no bid has been received as of now amid strong speculation linking him with a move to Everton.
The Athletic reported that Nigeria U23 international Tom Dele-Bashiru should get a chance in 2022-2023, just as allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported eleven days ago.
Troost-Ekong made seventeen top-flight appearances last season, Dennis 33 and Dele-Bashiru was loaned out to Reading, for whom he played 39 matches.
