Match preview

Nigeria's Super Falcons will be looking to get a win to increase their chances of qualifying automatically from the group for the knockout stages, while Burundi's 3-1 loss to South Africa in their last game all but confirmed their elimination from the competition.

However, it will be no easy game as the Swallows would be looking to cancel their zero points even if they are eventually eliminated.

What to expect

After a rejuvenating win against Botswana, a front foot game should be expected from the Super Falcons. However, with Burundi being without any point in this tournament, it could be a slippery game for Nigeria to balance their will to win with making sure the structure is not tampered.

Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has shown that he is versatile and can set up an attacking team as witnessed against Botswana. His statement regarding his desire for Nigeria to be recognised as the team to beat in all competitions is looking like a real objective.

However, his tactics for this game needs to be spot on as this game has the potential to decide Nigeria's fate in the tournament.

Burundi coach Gustave Niyonkuru may be forced to take a defensive approach and it would fall on Nigeria to take the initiative in a game which they are likely to see much of the ball.

Fans can expect an attacking game of football with Nigeria eager to open the goalscoring while Burundi takes a pragmatic approach.

Kickoff Time/Venue

The African Women Cup Of Nations group stage match between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Swallows of Burundi will kick off at exactly 2100 hours Nigerian time at the Stade Moulay Hassan FUS Stadium in Morocco.
