WAFCON 2022 : Five takeaways from Nigeria's 4-0 rout of Burundi

Nigeria's Super Falcons on Sunday evening defeated Burundi 4-0 to make certain their qualification to the quarterfinals of the 2022 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

All Nigeria Soccer here presents the five takeaways from the match.

The Super Falcons Game Management

After scoring three goals, the Super Falcons momentarily lost concentration and Burundi had some decent moments.

The Burundi side proved to be a team that never gives up despite their own misfortunes.

Defensive Woes

The Super Falcons central defenders remain slow in reacting to split passes and quick counters from attacking players. Osinachi Ohale and Onome Ebi's advancing ages are showing.

Right Side of Attack

Most of the attacks of the Super Falcons came from the right side with Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade and Ifeoma Onumonu causing the opponents all sorts of troubles from there.

Good Starting XI

The players that started Sunday night were hungrier, largely younger and their energy proved that they should have started against South.

Good Idea To Take off Ebi

Coach Randy Waldrum substituted off captain Onome Ebi with fourteen minutes left in the second half, with an eye on the quarterfinals clash against Cameroon.

Age is catching up with the experienced defender and it was a good idea to have her take a rest.
