Official : Super Eagles target handed legendary shirt number after completing Gent move
Published: July 19, 2022Nigeria Football Federation target Jordan Torunarigha today completed his move to Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent, ending a sixteen-year association with German Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin in the process.
Following a successful medical, the former Germany U21 international put pen to paper on a contract with Gent until 2025.
The central defender is returning to Gent for a second spell, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the East Flanders club, making fifteen appearances in all competitions.
Torunarigha's performances endeared him to the Buffalos faithful and he's delighted to return to the club.
At his unveiling ceremony on Tuesday, Gent confirmed that he will be wearing the 'legendary number 23 shirt' - a number made famous by his namesake, NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Torunarigha said to Gent's YouTube page : "They asked me: what are you going to do there?' and I said I just want to play and so I played.
"Every game I played we never lost and in the end we took the Cup. And now I'm back, back for more."
The German-Nigerian defender wore the number 25 at the back of his jersey for five consecutive seasons at Hertha Berlin and was allocated number 20 in his first stint at Gent.
