How can Dennis fit in with Awoniyi at Nottingham Forest if proposed transfer goes through?
Published: July 20, 2022The transfer window is rumbling on with so many deals getting completed while others break down for one reason or another.
Nigerian players are not excluded from the hustle and bustle of the transfer window as many have sealed new moves while others are attracting interest from other clubs.
Reports from the Daily Mail UK have confirmed that Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest are exploring a deal to sign Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis from Watford.
Watford were relegated from the Premier League last season and the need for the Hornets to trim their wage bill has ensured that the Nigerian striker is put up for sale.
Nottingham Forest have been busy this transfer window having signed Super Eagle Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin.
If a move for Dennis were to be completed, how can both players fit into the attack? Allnigeriasoccer takes a look at the potential promising linkup.
Dennis is an outlet who scores goals from the left wing. Dennis can be likened to a 'fox-in-the-box' kind of striker as he mostly comes alive when close to the box, but his game is a little bit more than that.
He is a striker who loves to run the flanks and spin around defenders. He has a nose for finding space and is quite good in physical duels.
He thrives when he has support upfront in a sort of 2-striker system where he can feast on layoffs and knock-downs.
Awoniyi on the other hand is a physical specimen standing at just over 6 feet tall and officially listed as weighing 84kg.
He wears out rival defenders by spending long periods engaging with them in physical battles with his back to goal.
Awoniyi is also willing to drift wide and put the fullbacks through a grueling ordeal whilst being a very effective outlet.
With both players being effective in linking up play, running in behind the defence and playing as outlets, their possible partnership could be devastating for EPL defences.
The thought of Awoniyi dueling with defenders to play Dennis in at full speed and vice versa will certainly give defences second thoughts.
If Nottingham Forest are able to pull this off, it would further boost their chances of survival in the Premier League by a long way.
