Southampton make late attempt to hijack Nigeria-eligible winger's move to German club
Published: July 25, 2022Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Premier League club Southampton are trying to hijack Bayer Leverkusen's transfer move for Nigeria-eligible winger Sam Edozie.
Romano had earlier reported that the German Bundesliga side were edging closer to the completion of a deal for Edozie with an agreement already in place for a two-year deal which would see the winger tied to the club until June 30th 2024.
While the transfer is almost completed, Southampton are trying until the end.

Leverkusen agreed fee with Man City and Southampton are entering the race.
With the arrival of former Manchester City head of recruitment Joe Shields at Southampton and the relationship between them at the Etihad Stadium outfit, the Saints definitely have a chance of pulling off this upset.
The Anglo-Nigerian joined Manchester City from Millwall and has just a year left on his current contract at the Citizens having spent the last three seasons there.
Edozie has made one senior appearance for Manchester City, against Leicester City in last season's Community Shield, and is open to leaving the Premier League champions in search of first team football.
