Leicester 1 Southampton 2 : Aribo booked for simulation, Ndidi goes 90, Iheanacho subbed in
Published: August 20, 2022A pair of goals by Che Adams in the 68th and 84th minute proved the difference as Southampton defeated Leicester City 2-1 away at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
James Maddison gave Leicester City the lead through a brilliant free-kick in the 54th minute.
Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was in action for the Saints but he picked up a booking on the 82nd minute of the game.
The former Rangers star was booked for simulation after going down in the box.
Aribo who has scored one goal for his team was substituted off two minutes before full time by Brazilian Lyanco.
On the opposite side, ever dependable Wilfred Ndidi played throughout the entirety of the match and in the first half produced a good interception that could have resulted in a goal.
His compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench as he did against Arsenal last weekend for Harvey Barnes in the 76th minute.
In the provisional standings, Southampton are sitting 12th with four points from three matches while the Foxes are 18th with one point from the same number of games.
