Scouts representing Barca, Spurs, Newcastle, Man Utd, 10 other clubs watch Super Eagles LB
Published: August 24, 2022Scouts representing at least fourteen European clubs were present at the Estádio do Dragão to watch the Primeira Liga clash between champions FC Porto and bitter rivals Sporting Lisbon on Saturday, August 20.
According to Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola, talent spotters representing Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle United were in attendance.
The Spanish representatives were Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla while Roma, Juventus and Bologna came from Italy.
OGC Nice, Marseille and Bayern Munich scouts also took notes during the matchday three fixture which Porto won 3-0 courtesy of goals from Evanilson, Mateus Uribe and Galeno.
The talent spotters ran the rule over Porto's Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi for eighty seven minutes.
It should be noted that some of the European clubs might be doing opposition scouting before the UEFA Champions League group stage, with Porto and Sporting CP among Portugal's representatives in the competition.
Everton were linked with a possible move for Sanusi this summer but it appears they have pulled out of the running for the Nigerian defender after the signing of Ruben Vinagre from Sporting CP.
The Nigeria international has three years left on his contract with the Portuguese champions and has a release clause of fifty million euros.
