'He's going to get his goals' - Tottenham legend backs Awoniyi to deliver at Nottingham Forest
Published: August 27, 2022Speaking ahead of Nottingham Forest's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the City Ground, Tottenham legend Jermaine Jenas is backing Taiwo Awoniyi to deliver at the newly-promoted club.
Jenas,a retired England international, is a product of the fantastic Nottingham Forest Academy, so has a foot in both camps.
Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest in June off the back of an outstanding season at Union Berlin, where he tallied twenty goals in 43 matches across all competitions.
The 2013 U17 World Cup winner has already etched his name into Nottingham Forest history books by netting their first goal at home following their return to the Premier League.
Jenas has stressed that Nottingham Forest are at risk of being relegated if they don't score goals in the top-flight and believes their Nigerian striker Awoniyi is in a position to deliver the goods.
Sharing his impressions on Jesse Lingard, Morgan Gibbs-White and Awoniyi, Jenas told Forest TV : "There's still a lot of pressure on Jesse Lingard and Morgan Gibbs-White to go and get those goals and the boy from Germany Taiwo Awoniyi.
"(He) Awoniyi is going to get his goals. That's where the pressure is going to be.
"Jesse is an interesting one. I think that his start has been quiet if I'm honest but I do think that there's more to come from him."
Awoniyi has started the last two games played by Steve Cooper's side in the Premier League before the visit of Antonio Conte's team.
