Super Eagles star happy to have the confidence of Everton coach Lampard and fans
Published: September 13, 2022Super Eagles and Everton star Alex Iwobi has revealed that he feels delighted to see Frank Lampard and the fans have confidence in him.
Iwobi has been in scintillating form since Lampard arrived at Goodison Park.
He played a pivotal role in helping the Toffees escape relegation from the Premier League to the Sky Bet Championship last season.
The 26-year-old Nigerian has always been a subject of banter with some fans and pundits claiming that he hasn't justified his transfer fee.
Big 17 as he's fondly called, joined the Merseyside club in August 2019 from Arsenal.
He played mostly as a winger but with the arrival of Lampard in January 2022, he was drafted into midfield.
His change in role has been a blessing in disguise as he's been consistently running the show in the middle of the park.
In an interview with Everton's YouTube channel, the Nigeria international was asked how he feels to have the confidence of the manager and the fans.
Iwobi said : "You almost feel unstoppable, you will always feel like you can do anything on the pitch."
"Obviously the place I am right now I like to play forward I like to create chances. Even if the chances don't come often, fans will know that you are trying.
"I try to believe that whenever I get the ball I can try and experiment and do something awesome on the pitch for my teammates to score or for even myself to try and score.
"It is a nice place to be. Every player wants that confidence so that they are unbeatable, there's nothing they can't do, so it is nice."
The 2019 AFCON bronze medalist has two assists in seven appearances this season.
