'I don't like to lose a match' - Peseiro admits to being sad after Super Eagles defeat to Algeria

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro is of the opinion that Nigeria played to instructions in the 2-1 loss to Algeria.

The Desert Foxes of Algeria and Nigeria's Super Eagles locked horns in an international friendly held at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran on Tuesday night.

The Portuguese gaffer in a post match interview with NFF TV revealed that his team played well just as he instructed but couldn't overcome the Algerians.

"It was a strong match, a strong match. I think we couldn't beat Algeria because Algeria is a good team, but our players tried to do what you ask them to do.

"I'm sad because we lost, I don't like to lose a match. I tried to put everyone in the game like I did against Team B Algeria but I could not do that because the law does not allow that."

Speaking on the outcome of the encounter, Peseiro said that his wards never deserved to lose to the North Africans.

"I think we deserve more, we did a good job. We stood up to the opponent, created more opportunities than Algeria.

"We lost, I am sad but the main point is that I am happy with what my players did on the pitch"

Nigeria raced into an early lead in the 9th minute courtesy of a goal from Terem Moffi, but were pegged back in the 41st after Riyad Mahrez scored from the penalty spot.

The Djamel Belmadi-led side got their winner on the hour mark following a 35-yard screamer from Attal.
