Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of Nigeria-eligible players that were in action for their respective clubs in the English Premier League on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

Southampton's winless run continued as they were beaten 4-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium - their fourth straight loss in the Premier League this season.

Joe Aribo played 79 minutes of the game for the Saints but could not orchestrate an upset; Sam Edozie  didn't make the squad.

The Citizens opened the scoring in the 20th minute courtesy of a goal by Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo picked up the ball after Foden was fouled in the middle of the pitch and raced towards goal to fire his strike into the back of the net.

12 minutes later, Phil Foden  scored City's second of the game. Kevin De Bruyne slipped a great pass through towards Foden, who went on to chip Bazunu.

In the 49th minute, Algerian attacker Riyad Mahrez extended City's lead. He got on the end of a perfectly weighted pass from Rodrigo to score the third goal of the afternoon.

Cancelo's low cross in the 65th minute was perfectly finished by Erling Haaland to score his 15th goal of the PL season.

At St James' Park, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka was unable to save Brentford from a 5-1 humiliating loss to Newcastle.

In the 21st minute, Bruno Guimaraes broke the deadlock for Newcastle. Just seven minutes later, Murphy extended the lead for the Magpies.

Ivan Toney gave the visitors a glimmer of hope in the 54th minute but Guimaraes put the game beyond the Londoners as he netted his second of the game in the 56th minute.

Onyeka came on in the 62nd minute as a replacement for Shandon Baptiste

Almiron would go on to make it 4-1 with eight minutes left on the clock  and the Bees got their woes compounded as Ethan Pinnock turned the ball into his own net late in the game.

At Stamford Bridge, Carney Chukwuemeka made his Chelsea debut. He was brought on in the 86th minute as a replacement for Conor Gallagher.

The Blues took the lead through Kai Havertz's first half header.

USMNT star Christian Pulisic went on to double the lead for the Potter's men nine minutes after the restart.

Substitute Armando Broja sealed the victory for Chelsea late in the game with his first PL goal of the campaign.

Leicester City were brought down back to the earth following a 2-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth.

Kelechi Iheanacho came on in the 79th minute while Wilfred Ndidi was not in the squad due to an injury.

Patson Daka put the visitors into an early lead in the 10th minute but were pegged back by a goal from Philip Billing in the 67th minute.

The comeback was completed in the 71st minute courtesy of a goal by Ryan Christie, assisted by Dominic Solanke
