'He's EPL quality' - Everton star hails Cooper's decision to hand full league debut to Dennis
Published: October 10, 2022Everton midfielder Andros Townsend has hailed the decision of Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper to hand the first Premier League start to Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis since his arrival at the club in August.
The former England international is special guest on Premier League Production live broadcast of the Nottingham Forest versus Aston Villa match at the City Ground on Monday night.
Responding to a question by ace presenter Steve Bower on the availability of the Nigerian from kickoff, Townsend concurred that the former Watford man merited his opportunity.
"He's Premier League quality. He's proven and can score goals," Townsend who is recuperating from a long-term injury said of Dennis who whilst at Watford last season scored at home and away for his former club against Aston Villa.
Townsend also namechecked Dennis' compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi whom he said could have helped the former European champions overcome Leicester City when both sides met at the King Power Stadium.
Awoniyi missed a glorious chance to score for Forest when his low shot came off the frame of the post in the 4-0 heavy defeat to the Foxes.
Dennis scored ten league goals for Watford last season and had six assists to his credit.
The Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa game is ongoing.
Townsend is expected to form a great partnership in the middle of the park for Everton with Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi when he fully recovers from injury.
