Lorient's Super Eagles striker waiting on scan after twisting his ankle
Published: October 16, 2022Lorient's Nigeria international Terem Moffi will undergo a scan early this week to determine the extent of the injury he suffered in the first half of the goalless draw against Stade de Reims on Saturday.
Moffi thought he could increase his tally against Ligue 1 strugglers Reims but that wasn't the case as he was forced off injured after twisting his right ankle in the tenth minute.
After receiving treatment on the pitch, he attempted to play through the pain barrier but could only last fourteen more minutes on the pitch before making way for Ibrahima Koné.
In one of the iconic images of the season, the Super Eagles star was distraught after he was replaced and had to be comforted by his teammates on the substitutes bench.
Speaking after the game, Lorient manager Régis Le Bris did not provide a timeframe for Moffi's return to action, though it is dependent on the outcome of the test result.
In quotes relayed by Football365, Le Bris said : "I don't know the diagnosis, nor the duration of unavailability. We will do exams early next week."
Moffi has started all the games played by Lorient in 2022-2023, scoring eight goals in eleven matches.
