PL 2 : Anglo-Nigerian winger continues hot streak as Manchester United beat Wolves
Published: October 22, 2022England U19 international of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire continued his brilliant form by scoring another goal for Manchester United as they came from behind to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 in a Premier League 2 game on Saturday afternoon.
Shoretire also found the back of the net against Chelsea (2) and League One club Fleetwood Town prior to today's clash against Wolves.
The 18-year-old came close to breaking the deadlock but Wolves goalkeeper James Storer produced a low stop to deny him.
After a goalless first half, Harvey Griffiths' 56th minute opener was canceled out by Joe Hugill in the 67th minute but Jack Hodnett restored the visitors' one-goal advantage shortly after.
Twelve minutes from time, Shoretire pounced on an error and brought the game back to parity with his fourth goal in three games, before Marc Jurado netted the game winner with a minute of normal time left.
The Anglo-Nigerian went the full ninety, helping the Red Devils secure their first win of the 2022-2023 Premier League 2 season, after six draws and three defeats in the division.
Despite his outstanding performance for United's development squad in recent weeks, Shoretire is having a tough time breaking into the first team on a permanent basis, with his last appearance for the senior squad coming on the final day of last season.
