EFL wrap : Ex-Nigeria national teams invitees on target for Boro, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday

Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of the players of Nigerian descent on target for their respective clubs in English Football League matches on Saturday, October 29.

 

In a Championship clash at Deepdale, Middlesbrough lost 2-1 to Preston North End after conceding an injury time goal. 

 

In what was Michael Carrick's first game in charge of Boro, 2017 Super Eagles invitee Chuba Akpom opened the scoring for the visitors in the eighth minute as he headed home from close range assisted by Darragh Lenihan. 

 

The former Arsenal striker has been in impressive form this season with five goals in ten appearances in the division. 

 

In a crazy League One match at The Valley in London, the points were shared as Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town drew 4-4. 

 

2011 Nigeria U20 invitee Freddie Ladapo thought he had scored the winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time when he made it 3-2 with a brilliant shot into the bottom corner but the home team scored twice late on to salvage a point. 

 

The 29-year-old has notched five goals in his last eight games in the third tier of English football. 

 

Still in the division, Sheffield Wednesday won a  six-goal thriller 4-2 at home to Victor Adeboyejo's Burton Albion. 

 

2019 Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru swept home from the edge of the box to make it 4-0 to the Owls. 

 

The Manchester City academy product has seven goal involvements in fourteen matches across all competitions so far this season.
