Porto provide injury update on Super Eagles left-back after he was helped off the pitch
Published: November 02, 2022Portuguese Primeira Liga club Porto have provided an injury update on Nigeria left-back Zaidu Sanusi.
The defender was forced off early in the second half as Porto sealed top spot in Group B of the UEFA Champions League by beating Atlético de Madrid 2-1 at the Estádio do Dragão-Porto on Tuesday evening.
Sanusi made way for Wendell in the 53rd minute after getting injured following a challenge by Atletico's Montenegrin central defender Stefan Savić.
The 25-year-old was clearly in pain and had to be helped off the pitch by two of his teammates.
Porto, through their official website, confirmed last night that Sanusi suffered 'muscle complaints in the left adductor' and will be evaluated by the club's medical team.
He has emerged as an injury doubt for Porto's upcoming meeting with Paços de Ferreira in the league.
Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro will be monitoring developments from his homeland Portugal as he has the Porto star in his plans for the international friendly against Portugal on November 17.
