Nwaneri adds to growing reputation with brace for Arsenal in 3-3 draw v Man Utd U18s 

In a pulsating U18 Premier League Cup encounter at the Trafford Training Center, Ethan Nwaneri played a pivotal in Arsenal's 3-3 draw with Manchester United.

 

The game had four Nigeria eligible players on parade namely; Ethan Nwaneri and Josh Nichols for the Jack Wilshere led Arsenal side while Maximilian Oyedele and Victor Musa were in action for the Red Devils. 

 

Nwaneri, the youngest player in Premier League history, netted two goals to enhance his growing reputation. 

 

United dominated the early parts of the game, having multiple chances and a bigger chunk of possession. 

 

Manni Norkett put the young Red Devils in front in the ninth minute through a goal from the penalty spot. 

 

Arsenal with their first attack of the game got awarded a penalty due to Lewis-Skelly being fouled and Bradley Ibrahim stepped up to restore parity in the 30th minute. 

 

The half ended in a stalemate with United dominating for 30 minutes but after Arsenal's equalizer they were the second best team.

 

Immediately after the restart, Nichols was substituted off and was replaced by Dudziak.

 

In the 56th minute, Ethan Williams restored United's lead with a stunning half volley.

 

Just six minutes later, Arsenal were back on level terms through Nwaneri who turned and finished.

 

In the 71st minute, the England U17 international of Nigerian descent completed his brace as he picked up the ball on the halfway line, charged his way through and smashed one in from the edge of the area.

 

 

Nwaneri's amazing day was cut short as he was forced off with an injury in the 85th minute.

 

United got back on level terms following an 86th minute goal from Ethan Williams.

 

In Group C of the U18 Premier League Cup, Arsenal finished third with four points from three games while United finished fourth with a point.
