Arteta promotes two Flying Eagles-eligible players to first team training pre-Wolves
Published: November 11, 2022Mikel Arteta promoted two Flying Eagles-eligible players to first team training on Friday ahead of Arsenal's visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to Arsenal youth team guru Jeorge Bird, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Zach Awe were among the academy stars invited to train with the Gunners first team today.
Awe has received one call up for a first team game and it was against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on February 10, 2022, while Butler-Oyedeji has been pushing for his first call up in recent weeks.
In the current season, Butler-Oyedeji and Awe have been influential for an Arsenal U21 side who are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League 2.
The results have been impressive for the development squad despite several players of Nigerian descent loaned out including Ryan Alebiosu, Tim Akinola, Miguel Azeez, Mazeed Ogungbo and Ovie Ejeheri,
Arsenal are aiming to return to winning ways following a 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
