Musa wins penalty for Man Utd youth team in five-goal thriller against Man City
Published: November 12, 2022Manchester United U18s came out on top in a five-goal thriller against Manchester City in an U18 Premier League match staged at the Academy Stadium in Manchester on Saturday, with Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian striker Victor Musa playing a key role for the Red Devils.
As for team news, United defensive midfielder Maximillian Oyedele put in an impressive 90-minute shift and Musa was introduced off the bench with a minute of normal time left.
Manchester United were made to pay for their missed chances in the first half as Nico O'Reilly drilled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to give the Citizens the lead at halftime.
Midway through the second half, the game turned on its head thanks to two quickfire goals from Manchester United strikers Ethan Williams and Manni Norkett
Jaden Nolan increased the lead when he converted a penalty in the 90th minute after Musa was brought down in the box by the City goalkeeper, but the home team pulled one back in stoppage time to make the final score 3-2 in favour of United.
2006-born attacker Musa, who has represented England and Spain at youth level, has made three appearances in the U18 Premier League while still a schoolboy.
Manchester United U18s don't play again until December 3, 2022 when Leeds United come to Trafford Training Centre in Carrington.
