Moffi sends message to ex-teammate Chalobah after defender's Chelsea contract extension

Through their official website, Premier League club Chelsea have announced that Sierra Leone-born central defender Trevoh Chalobah has committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

The former England U21 international is now committed to the Blues until the summer of 2028, with a club option to extend to 2029.

Chalobah joined Chelsea at the age of nine, progressing through the academy ranks before making his first team debut in a UEFA Super Cup clash against Villarreal in August 2021.

He has taken in loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient in France.

At Lorient, for whom he made 32 appearances in all competitions during the 2020-2021 season, Chalobah struck a relationship with Nigeria international Terem Moffi.

The Anglo-Sierra Leonean defender provided an assist for Moffi to score Lorient's third goal of the game in a 4-1 win over Bordeaux.

Chalobah won the 2015-2016 UEFA Youth League with Chelsea, a side that featured Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina and England internationals of Nigerian descent Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.

Taking to Instagram shortly after his new deal was confirmed, Chalobah stated, 'Since the age of 9, my heart has been here. Boyhood Blue, locked in for longer. I’m delighted to resign with @chelseafc. See you all again soon!'

Moffi responded to Chalobah's post by posting emojis indicating applaud, praise and love.
