Official : MLS club St. Louis CITY SC acquire Nigerian striker
Published: December 16, 2022With a statement on their official website, Major League Soccer club St. Louis CITY SC have announced the acquisition of Nigerian striker Samuel Adeniran from Seattle Sounders.
Seattle Sounders traded Adeniran to St. Louis CITY SC in exchange for $100,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM) as well as up to an additional $100,000 in 2024 GAM if certain performance metrics are met.
In addition, Seattle Sounders will retain a percentage of a future transfer fee through 2025.
Adeniran played for three different clubs in 2022 namely Seattle Sounders, Tacoma Defiance and San Antonio FC.
He began his professional career at Leganes B, and took in loan spells at Guadalajara and Castellón during his time at The Pepineros.
After ending his association with Leganes, the 24-year-old wore the colours of Kickers Emden and Atlas Delmenhorst in Germany before joining Seattle Sounders on a permanent deal in December 2021.
Although Adeniran has been listed as a Nigerian by his new employer, he will not take up an international roster slot because he holds an American passport
He is credited with six appearances for Seattle Sounders' first team, comprising four in Major League Soccer and one each in the Concacaf Champions League and US Open Cup.
