'A moment of genuine quality' - Ipswich icon hails Olise for sensational free-kick goal v Man Utd
Published: January 19, 2023Ipswich Town legend Matt Holland has hailed the quality of goal scored by Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise in Wednesday's Premier League meeting with third-placed Manchester United at Selhurst Park.
The Red Devils had gone ahead and seemed to be running away with a win which could have taken them above Manchester City in the table but Olise produced a moment of magic to deny Erik ten Hag's men.
The player, who is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father, delivered a fantastic free-kick in stoppage time that goalkeeper David de Gea could not stop.
"It's a moment of genuine quality from Olise. They (Palace) have been much better in the second half and they caught United on the back foot.
"But they haven't created too much. And it's taken something really special to beat De Gea. From a free-kick into injury time, Palace are level" Holland, who was on commentary duties for the Premier League world feed, said on air.
With his brilliant strike on Wednesday night, Olise has now been involved in six goals (2 goals, 4 assists) in his last twelve Premier League games for Crystal Palace.
The game finished 1-1 with United's quest to reduce Arsenal’s lead at the gap and overtaking city rivals Manchester City suffering a hit.
United will be without Casemiro against Arsenal who recorded his fifth yellow card of the season after a foul on Wlfried Zaha.
