'Remembered by everyone for his speed and goals' - Okocha lauds 'African ambassador' Musa

Legendary Nigeria midfielder Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has branded Ahmed Musa 'an ambassador for Africa', saying that the winger has proved that African players are capable of excelling in the Russian Premier League.

In two different spells at CSKA Moscow, the Super Eagles captain mustered 61 goals in 184 all-competition appearances and provided 33 assists.

Musa played in Russia for CSKA Moscow for four and a half years, then he moved to Leicester City, before returning to the Army Men for a loan spell in the second half of the 2017-2018 season.

The Golden Boot Soccer Academy product is Nigeria's all-time top scorer at the World Cup with four goals in seven matches, and has the most caps for the Super Eagles.

Super Eagles players past and present, including Aaron Samuel, Chidera Ejuke, Fegor Ogude, Sylvester Igboun and Dele Adeleye, later followed in the footsteps of Musa by moving to the Russian Premier League.

"Ahmed Musa is not only an excellent footballer, but also an ambassador for Africa. He helps many African countries, and in Russia he is remembered by everyone for his good speed and goals," Okocha said to Sport24.

"By his example, Musa shows that not only Nigerian, but also all African football players can go to play in Russia."

Musa was Russian champion with CSKA Moscow in 2013, 2014 and 2016, and also won the Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup during his time with the Muscovites.
