Flying Eagles player ratings : Aniagboso outstanding, Agbalaka rises above all, Bameyi generalissimo

The Nigeria U-20 national team, Flying Eagles, on Wednesday evening defeated hosts Egypt 1-0 in their second Group A game of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

All Nigeria Soccer here presents the players ratings from the game.

The Starters

Goalkeeper

Chijioke Aniagboso : Second choice keeper, Chijioke Aniagboso, was preferred to Nathaniel Nwosu and he did not disappoint. The youngster produced great saves especially in the second half to keep the Egyptians  at bay. Tough time for Ladan Bosso deciding his first choice going forward. 8.5/10.

Defenders

Augustine Njoku  : The right back was efficient with his defensive job. A discipline performance from the defender who got glued to the player he was assigned to mark. Did not bomb forward an awful lot like his teammate on the other flank. 6/10.

Solomon Agbalaka :The left back scored the decisive goal of the game with a textbook header in the 71st minute from a corner kick.  Agbalaka delivered promising crosses into the Egyptian half and not too many times was he found wanting in his defending. 9/10.

Daniel Bameyi : The skipper played far better against Egypt then he did against Senegal. For his height, he impressively won aerial balls quite comfortably and made vital clearances.  Bamayi also created a goalscoring chance in the second half but his attacking teammate squandered the chance. 7/10.

Benjamin Frederick  : The central defender who was arguably the best Flying Eagles player against Senegal may not have been the star player on Wednesday evening but he was still outstanding.  He made good blocks. He was always ready to put his body on the line and his 6ft height helped keep away the ball from crosses. 6/10.

Midfielders and strikers

Onuche Ogbelu  : The defensive midfielder was impressive in the middle of the park. He broke plays at will and helped the defenders to restrict the Egyptians. 6/10.

Samson Lawal  : Good with finding passes in-between the lines. Has plenty of engine and is a box to box player. Subbed off in the second half. 6/10.

Muhammad Aminu : The creative midfielder delivered the corner kick that led to the goal scored by Solomon Agbalaka. Not his best game for the team but was decent enough to earn him a little above average score. 6/10.

Rilwanu Sarki  : Made plenty of runs into the opposition half but was not decisive most times with his final balls. Subbed off in the second half. 5.5/10.

Ibrahim Muhammad : Plenty of runs and energy. However, he was one of the biggest culprits in terms of not maximizing their chances. 6/10.

Ayuba Abubakar : Guilty of missing gilt-edge chances albeit he was far more effective than Ahmed Abdullahi who was red-carded in the defeat to Senegal on Sunday. 5.5/10.

The Substitutes

Jude Sunday  : Came into the game and brought purpose from the ring wing. His crosses and passes were promising. 5/10.

Nicholas Jonathan : Helped shore up the midfield towards the latter stages of the game. 6/10.

Adams Alade : The forward was booked in the game after coming on in place of Rilwan Sarki. 5/10.

Emmanuel Uchegbu : Guilty of wasting a gilt-edged chance of making it 2-0 with barely two minutes to the end of the game. 4.5/10.
