Official: Chelsea academy product Uwakwe offered new deal by Crewe Alexandra
Published: May 16, 2023With a statement on their official website, EFL League Two club Crewe Alexandra have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
The Railwaymen have decided to offer a new contract to Chelsea academy product Tariq Uwakwe.
The Anglo-Nigerian midfielder was on the books of Chelsea for fifteen years before joining Crewe Alexandra on a permanent deal in January 2022.
Uwakwe has totaled 48 appearances in all competitions since transferring to the Mornflake Stadium outfit in a search of regular first-team football and has scored one goal while contributing five assists.
The 23-year-old has played nonbinding games for England at U18, U19 and U20 levels.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool youngster David Amoo is one of the four players released by Crewe Alexandra.
The 32-year-old, who counts Preston North End, Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Partick Thistle, Cambridge United, Port Vale and Stevenage as his previous clubs, joined Crewe Alexandra ion a short-term deal in the January transfer window.
Amoo played seven games for Crewe Alexandra, logging 226 minutes.
