Official: Anglo-Nigerian central defender released by Wolverhampton Wanderers
Published: June 02, 2023With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the players that will be departing the club following the end of the 2022-2023 season.
At academy level, promising London-born central defender of Nigerian descent, Michael Agboola has not been offered a new deal and will be released upon the expiration of his contract on June 30, 2023.
Agboola is departing the Molineux Stadium without making his competitive debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers first team.
The Anglo-Nigerian centre-back extended his Wolves contract for another twelve months last June.
He struggled with injuries in his last two seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers, limiting his appearances to nine games in the Premier League 2, and featured once in the Papa Johns Trophy.
Agboola joined Wolves in 2019, having impressed whilst on trial with their youth team.
Before his move to Wolves, he was on the books of Dagenham & Redbridge, and also lists Charlton Athletic and Southampton among his previous employers.
Agboola, who can also play as a central midfielder, has cited Manchester City legend Yaya Toure as his role model.
