Highly-rated midfielder Musbaudeen receives first call-up to FC Midtjylland first team
Published: June 03, 2023Highly-rated Nigerian midfielder Jamiu Musbaudeen is in contention to make his senior debut for FC Midtjylland on Saturday afternoon when they take on Odense Boldklub in the Danish Superliga.
The 18-year-old has been selected in a 20-man squad by manager Thomas Thomasberg, meaning it is guaranteed that he will be included in the matchday squad, providing he does not suffer an injury in the pre-game warm-up.
Musbaudeen has been given a chance to make his debut for FC Midtjylland because Brazilian star Paulinho is out of the squad due to accumulated bookings.
The FC Ebedei product represents Midtjylland's U19 team, for whom he made twenty appearances since his arrival in Demark last summer.
In seventeen outings in the U19 Boys League, Musbaudeen has scored one goal and registered two assists.
He shone at the Dallas Cup in April, helping Midtjylland to beat Sao Paolo in the showpiece and was on target twice against Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in a group game.
Two Nigerian midfielders in the shape of Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika impressed in midfield for Midtjylland before they were sold to Brentford and Club Brugge respectively.
Goalkeeper Mark Ugboh is unavailable for selection against OB due to injury.
