Adana Demirspor trigger option to buy Olympiakos' Super Eagles winger
Published: June 30, 2023
Super Lig club Adana Demirspor have triggered their option to buy outright Henry Onyekuru from Olympiakos, according to matching press reports in the Turkish and Greek press.
Ajansspor is reporting that Onyekuru, who was loaned in from Olympiakos with an option to buy last season, is remaining at Adana Demirspor, who have exercised the buy option.
The report added that the Nigeria international will attend Mavi Şimşekler's camp in Düzce Topuk Plateau.
Adana Demirspor have acquired the winger on a permanent basis after activating the option to buy set at 3.5 million euros.
Onyekuru managed to convince Adana Demirspor to sign him on a full deal after his impressive performances last season, helping the Blue Lightnings qualify for the Europa Conference League.
The former Everton player scored eight goals in 28 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig while registering three assists.
Onyekuru struggled to make an impact at Olympiakos, netting once in 27 games, after his move from Monaco in August 2021.
The 26-year-old enjoyed three different loan spells at Galatasaray before his return to the Super Lig. last July.
